You DON'T Have to Jump Off of a Bridge

So these protesters obviously got wind of my green blog and decided to show their dedication to green peace. These guys, GreenPeace USA decided to say "hello" to international leaders visiting Pittsburgh by repelling off of the West End Bridge. Eight protestors and one larger than life, or 80x30 ft, sign that read “Danger. Climate Destruction. Reduce CO2 emissions.” dangled from the bridge and then, after a couple hours, were raised and apprehended by police.

At first I thought these people went a little too far, but really their message got a lot of attention and that's just what they wanted to do. I do not promote jumping off of a bridge to show how green you are, infact I don't recommend jumping off of a bridge at all! I just thought you greenies would like to see some of the lengths people go to just to express their views on saving the world. I would recommend checking out their site to see what the fuss is all about!

"Let's Go Bucs. Let's Go Green."

We're not the only folks interested in "greening" themselves. Love 'em or hate 'em the Pittsburgh Pirates are putting forth their best effort to make our black and gold a little greener. By using biodegradeable utensils, napkins, and plates. Also, we'll be seeing more recycling going on at PNC Park. The office materials, like paper and light bulbs, will even be recycled and energy-efficient. Alright Buccos, though I was upset that you traded some of our only good players, atleast you know how to save some energy!

These are only a few examples of the small changes that we can make in our lives to make a big difference. So jump on this bandwagon (E85 Ethynol-feuled wagon, of coarse!) and for a small price, using recycled materials or even using a different type of light bulb can go a long way!

Life After People

Click me, I'm a video!

So I rented this movie the other night and was impressed by its cheesey graphics and not-so-happy ending. The movie is actually just a series done by the History Channel all compiled into one DVD. Life After People begins the first day after human existence. Nothing tragic happened to us, don't worry, we just mysteriously disappear. Spoiler alert! This documentary uses scientific fact to predict that in 10,000 years from the day that mankind vanishes from Earth, there will be little to no evidence that we ever existed. Scary!

I started to seriously doubt this documentary somewhere around 20 years post-human-existence. Scientist believe that earth would've already begun to take back what was hers and I thought, "Really? Everything that man had worked so hard for, all the the buildings, monuments, bridges, etc. are already beginning to crumble?" I didn't believe it, but it IS actually happening in one part of the world- Prypiat, Ukraine home of the
Chernobyl nuclear reactor disaster. Humans had abandon their entire lives to escape the effects of radioactivity. Radiation levels have plummeted, and wildlife has established itself a new home in what was once a thriving city. Already, there are tremendous signs of earth regenerating itself.

Earth is a beautiful place, it is our responsibility as human beings to take it upon ourselves and maintain its beauty. I highly recommend this documentary, it is available at redbox for $1.07!

Modern Technology Owes Ecology an Appology

I decided to blog about something that is important to all of us and that could spark an interest in most, Planet Earth. It is the world in which we live and it is such an unhealthy, one-sided relationship. If we don't change our bad habits soon, Earth is going to break up with us! In my green blog I can offer you tips, facts, and fun stories on the little, unordinary things that we all can do to keep this relationship alive! I'm not a greenpeace activist, tree-hugger, hippie, or anything of the sort, I just honestly belive that if we all contribute the littlest bit that we're bound to make a difference.

P.S. You can thank Mr. Alan M. Eddison for the title of this blog. It's a poem, he wrote it!

5 Things I Could Blog...

-Abraham Lincoln
Okay I know that it is super weird for a twenty-one-year-old girl to be a little bit obsessed with a president, but hey it's a niche! The only problem, not everyone would be as glamoured by our 16th president as I am.

-Healthy Habits in Everyday Living
Hopefully everyone could use a little "green" in their life, or diet!

-Movies
I love movies! Cliffhangers would promote conversation between us bloggers. Like in Point Break. Does Swayze drown? Does he live the rest of his days locked up in a jail cell? What happened!

-My Job
I thought that this would be an interesting topic because I always come home with an interesting story or two. The downside, they are usually stories about the restaraunt that make me want to pull my own hair and I'd rather write about something that makes me happy instead.

-My Personal List of "Goals That I Want to Accomplish in My Life"
For instance, I want to continue my reign as hula hoop champion. Currently 12-0. I know, it's impressive.

I Love...

As I stare at the computer screen thinking about what I love most in life, weighing the odds and trying to choose something perfect, it hit me. Actually I stepped on it. That "it" is a her, (don't worry it was just a little nudge) and I am talking about my two-and-a-half-year-old shih tzu Sammy! She is absolutely the most adorable best friend anybody could have. My mom and dad bought her for our other shih  tzu, Gia, to have a buddy. Later we add Lucy to the bunch. All three ladies are actually sisters just from different litters. Though, for now we're talking about Sammy. I'm definitely Sam's favorite person. Though she is affectionate towards everyone, she only listens to me. She's my little pal, she follows me around constantly, she cuddles, she gives you kisses if your sad, and if you're not, she's beautiful, energetic, fun-loving, loves to play, okay I can't really read her handwriting anymore..

I know that everyone loves their dog and thinks that theirs is the best, and that's okay! You obviously just haven't met Sam yet.
